    Ok, I know that it’s been a while…
    1. What vehicle do you drive?

A 1998 Ford Escort, in a really sexy blue.

    2. How long have you had it?

    Since the end of July.

    3. What is the coolest feature on your vehicle?

The air conditioning. I’ve lived without for so long, I keep freezing myself out of the car just because I can!

    4. What is the most annoying thing about your vehicle?

The stupid clunk in the right front brakes.

    5. If money were no object, what vehicle would you be driving right now?

I’ve always been a classic car girl, but I’m really liking this AC thing, so I’m going to have to say one of the fancy new SUV’s (a Vue or one of the Lexus ones) .

    1. Is the name you have now the same name that’s on your birth certificate? If not, what’s changed?

Yes, only the nicknames have changed.

    2. If you could change your name (first, middle and/or last), what would it be?

It would stay the same; I’ve grown to like it over the years. I am really partial to the names Margaret and Brighid, though.

    3. Why were you named what you were? (Is there a story behind it? Who specifically was responsible for naming you?)

Well, I was supposed to have a different name, but the story goes that my Grandfather wouldn’t let my parents have the birth certificate until they changed it. Someone suggested Charleen because it was a mixture of my parents names, Charles and Kathleen.
Strangely, years late we found out that my father had a sister named Charlene Ann, who died at a day old.

    4. Are there any names you really hate or love? What are they and why?

Well, I mentioned Margaret and Brighid, and in boys names, I like Sebastian and Alexander. No reason why, they just all have good connotations for me. Likely I ran across them in a book somewhere, years ago. That’s where I developed my penchant for the name Katie Scarlett….

    5. Is the analysis of your name at kabalarians.com accurate? How or how isn’t it?

    What a weird website….
” Your first name of Charleen has given you a quick-minded, sensitive nature. It gives you a creative ability in art, music, singing, or fancywork and an appreciation for refined surroundings. ” Fancywork?? “Your sociable nature expresses affection, kindness, and thoughtfulness to the extent that it is difficult for you not to be affected by others and governed by your emotions, rather than by logic and reason. As you respond to love and encouragement from others, your romantic and dreamy nature can easily lead you into love affairs. Your desire for peace at any price can result in going out of your way to avoid arguments and confrontation or hurting the feelings of others. Also, budgeting can be a problem as you enjoy spending money and can easily ignore being practical.”
    I dunno, you decide.

  • The alpha and the omega of the bonus

Roop looked down on her people, and said “Ye verily, you are loyal workers. You deserve a reward.” And so the bonus was born, and hope was born in the tired breasts of the loya workers.

And then TXU dragged us into the valley of More Shadows as the Day Get’s Later and baked us with inderect sunlight. TXU said, “Thou shalt pay out the nose, or thall shalt not have light until the stars fall from the sky and the moon has turned red.”

And so we hemmed and hawed and sweated. And paid the bill. TXU said “Let there be light!” and there was, and we saw that it was Good…despite the remembered shame of having to bend over and grab our ankles.

Thanks to everyone for their support

  • I’m home…

I’m home from Houston, for all of you that were wondering.

I’m exhausted, but happy, and I had a blast.

I’ll tell y’all all about it tomorrow, if I’m not dead tired. I think that you’ll especially like the Ikea prank that I played on Matt while I was there.

    Love, C

    1. What housekeeping chore(s) do you hate doing the most?

That’s a toss up between vacuuming and doing the dishes

    2. Are there any that you like or don’t mind doing?

I guess that I really don’t mind folding clothes

    3. Do you have a routine throughout the week or just clean as it’s needed?

    Really, as needed

    4. Do you have any odd cleaning/housekeeping quirks or rules?

Not that I can think of.

    5. What was the last thing you cleaned?

Probably picking up random trash from the front room.

    What Is Your Battle Cry?

Hark! Who is that, running amidst the cliffs! It is Therangonagin, hands clutching an oversized scalpel! And with a low grunt, her voice cometh:

“As sure as predators devour prey, I pilliage and burn like a klepto-pyro!”

  • Friday Five was Late…

    1. Are you going to school this year?

I’m going to several classes this year, but no school.

    2. If yes, where are you going (high school, college, etc.)? If no, when did you graduate?

My last graduation was 1992 from Westbury, but I attended school – off and on – into 2001

    3. What are/were your favorite school subjects?

I love literature (especially the study of dramatic works), science, history, and I really like theology and/or philosopy.

    4. What are/were your least favorite school subjects?

    Math.

    5. Have you ever had a favorite teacher? Why was he/she a favorite?

Oh I had several. But I had one a couple of years ago that sat me down and reexplained math to me from the beginning to intermediate algebra. I actually got an A in his class. I don’t know if I fully deserved it, but -for the first time – I was really excited about what I was learning in math, and really confident about what I was doing.

I could name about 15 other teachers, but I won’t. There’s even some that I like as an adult, that I didn’t like as their student.
