I’m catching up with all of these….I like faeriekissed’s picture better

    HASH(0x8813058)
You are the tree-loving faerie. The Earth Faerie.
Nature is your friend, all the little animals
are cute and cuddly, even those that bite. You
are a strong friend, people have a tendancy to
go to you when they are feeling sad. You have a
motherly instinct and always want to kiss away
    the tears.

    What’s your inner Faerie?

Thanks to faeriekissed for this one; I hope it works….Matt, this might be a good base for the maps we were discussing on the other site…ooh. looks like part of it got cut off by the frame. Well, you can see the whole think by clicking on the link to my livejournal.

  • Just a quick post

Just a quick post because I’m late for work, but I heard from my “cousin” Stefan Mühlenweg (let’s see how the umlaut works here, Matt) in Germany today!!! It’s been a long time since I’ve heard from him because he’s been doing exciting things like touring China and writing a 300 page book (!!!!!) on the history of his mother’s family (how cool is that?), but he’s back again!!

And for those of you who are asking, no we still haven’t found how he and I are related, but it’s hidden in that history somewhere, and we’ll find it.

For those of you that didn’t know me early last year, Stefan was really a help and a support while I was working on the Mullenweg/Mühlenweg genealogy in 2001 and early 2002. In fact, he spent a lot of personal time and effort studying the German side, and found a whole bunch of the information that I needed. He even did the translations, since I don’t speak German (worth my salt)

    Talk to y’all soon!

  • August and Everything After

Well, a nice girl named Amy hit the atmosphere (sorry, I couldn’t resist) and came back with the lyrics to August and Everything After. She was nice enough to get them to me for those who asked. Amy, I don’t know how you got these, but thanks! Keep in touch!!!

I can’t print these on Livejournal for the language, so I’m just gonna put a notice up.

    August and Everything After

    They’re wakin’ up Maria
‘cause everybody else has got some place to go
She makes a little motion with her head,
rolls over, and says she’s gonna sleep for a couple minutes more
I said I’m sorry to Maria
for all the cold-hearted things that I have done
I said I’m sorry by now at least once
    to just about everyone
She says I’ve forgotten what I’m supposed to do today
And it slips my mind what I’m supposed to say
We’re getting older and older and older
and always a little further out of the way
    You look into her eyes
and it’s more than your heart will allow
    And August and everything after
you get a little less than you expected somehow
Well I stumbled into Washington Square
just as the sun began to rise
And I laid down on the lawn of the cathedral
and laid down and the shadow of St. Mary’s in the sky
And I’m just one of these late model children
    waiting for the king
But there ain’t no sign of Elvis in San Francisco
it’s just me and I’m playin’ this rock and roll thing
She wants to be just like me
And I want every damn thing I can see
You know one day you’re Daddy’s little angel
The next day you’re everything he wanted you to be
They dress you up in white satin
and they give you your very own pair of wings
    In August and everything after
    I’m after everything
I said yeah yeah yeah yeah – lalala
    Well you got your reservations
and you got your seven-million dollar home
You got the number of some girl in New York City
    who’s always wide awake
so you never spend the night alone
You got a nasty little habit
of peekin’ down the shirts of all the little girls
    as they pass you by
And I wonder when it all catches up to you
and they finally take you down–
    are you gonna cry?
Well I already got my disease
So take your fuckin’ filthy hands off of me
Yeah well I hope you weren’t expecting to be crucified–
The best that they can do
is to hang you from the nearest tree
    It’s midnight in San Francisco
and I’m waiting here for Jesus on my knees
    And August and everything after
I want somebody else to bleed for me
I said yeah yeah yeah lalala…
They came down from North Dakota
with confidence in the military mind
And now everyone I know is turning showgirl
and dancing with their shirt off
in some Las Vegas hotel line
So I’m going’ down to Los Angeles
to plead for my immediate release
And the lawyer says, ‘yeah we’ll let you go
but you gotta give us a better reason
    than ‘please, please, please”
But I no longer know how to pray
I live in dog town and it’s a Dalmatian parade
And I, I change my spots over and over
but they never seem to fade away
I am the last remaining Indian
looking for the place where the buffalo roam
    In August and everything after
man them buffalo ain’t never comin’ home
And I said in August and everything after
man them buffalo ain’t never comin’ home
I said oh yeah yeah yeah lalala

It’s an interesting peek into Adam Duritz’s psyche, don’t you think? It’s certainly got the angel metaphor, but I thought it had the line “In August and everything after/ I’m after everything”

I wonder why it never made the album?

  • Friday Five on Monday

At this moment, what is your favorite…

    1. …song?

The one stuck in my head is “Hey Ya” by Outkast, but my favorite right now is “Heaven” from Rusted Root

    2. …food?

    Oriental

    3. …tv show?

Still Firefly, even thought it’s cancelled

    4. …scent?

Currently, I’m enjoying a mix of ylang ylang and myrrh from Bath and Body Works

    5. …quote?

Mal: Here we arrived just in the nick of time again. What does that make us, Zoe?
    Zoe: Big Damn Heroes, sir.
    Mal: Ain’t we just.
    – Firefly

p.s. Fave Quote of All Time” This above all, to thine own self be true.” – Hamlet

  • For those of you that follow this….

I updated the news on the mullenweg.com site. Check out my syling on links and even emails! The former was all Matt’s doing, but I had to figure out how to the emails all on my own (well, and I poked through Matt’s coding to figure it out; last time I just copied and pasted wholesale.)
    Ok…gotta run, late for work….

How you died A cannonball in the gut
  • Friday five….on Saturday

Well, I’ll do my best on this one…….

    1. What does it say in the signature line of your emails?

Work: “Literature is strewn with the wreckage of those who have minded beyond reason the opinion of others.”
    – Virginia Woolf

Play: Harrow: “I know him. And I think he’s a psychotic lowlife.”
Mal: “And I think calling him that is an insult to the psychotic lowlife community.” – Firefly

    2. Did you have a senior quote in your high school yearbook? What was it? If you haven’t graduated yet, what would you like your quote to be?

I don’t recall what it was. I suppose that I could look it up, but that would involve some digging. I remember that my last drill team dance was under the theme “A Night to Remember”

    3. If you had vanity plates on your car, what would they read? If you already have them, what do they say?

    5GENTX

    4. Have you received any gifts with messages engraved upon them? What did the inscription say?

Yes, but they always say my name or have my monogram.

I love getting inscriptions in books. I once received a book of adult fairy tales with the inscription “Charlene (sic), Happy birthday….keep some iron nearby! Paul” I remember it because I saw it yesterday.

    5. What would you like your epitaph to be?

I’m tempted to say “Blue skies for everyone” but “Beloved daughter, sister and friend” would make me even happier.

  • Post Holiday Blah

Why can’t we get summer vacation from work? I would keep January from being such a hard month to work in. It just seems that the cranky people are even more cranky now that they’re back from the holidays, and it’s becoming really hard to work.

Ah well. Thanks to all who have welcomed me back here. I’m sorry that I made y’all think that I fell of the face of the earth. This is about all that I have time to write in the mornings, though, so please forgive me if I have to keep things short….

  • Well, the world didn’t end……

I just wanted everyone to know that I’m still here! I’ve been really busy with work and travel, and as a result, I have been a bad blogger. They switched the computers at work, so I can no longer borrow someone else’s password to log into the internet there, and that’s really cramped my style, and the time that I have to post. I would be a lot happier if the big boss would just give me my own access, but she and I have fought about this for three years, and no positive results have appeared.

Well, I’ve got to go on to job #2 now. I’m cutting it a little close, but I’m less than a mile from work, and Mark doesn’t care if I’m a couple of minutes late. That being said, I don’t want to do a hyperlink to work now, for safety’s sake. If y’all would like to see the website, drop me an email and I’ll get that to you.

Hope y’all had a wonderful new year and Christmas! I’ll have to tell you about mine later, but they were fabulous!
